These special presentations are tailored to the age/grade of the students and include a question/answer period. Students will learn:

 

 

 

  • The risk factors for drug abuse and addiction
  • The reason people become addicted  
  • The difficulty in recovering from addiction
  • Why it’s important to make good decisions and the consequences when you don’t
  • Recognizing drugs and drug-packaging, especially

         - Alcohol and alcohol - drug combinations
         - Marijuana
         - Synthetic marijuana (K2, Spice)
         - Bath salts
         - Illegal use of prescription drugs: stimulants and pain- killers
         - Heroin
         - Stimulants: Cocaine and Meth
         - Ecstasy

  • Paraphernalia and what it means
  • Short-term and long-term consequences of drug use/abuse/addiction
